நண்பரே, என் மூத்த மகளுடன் நடந்த ஒரு சம்பவம் என் நினைவுக்கு வருகிறது.
அவளுக்கு சுமார் 7 அல்லது 8 வயது இருக்கும் போது.
Friend, I recall an incident with my elder daughter when she was 7 or 8 years old.
நான் அவளை ஒரு நெருப்பெட்டி மற்றும் ஒரு குவி லென்ஸ்ஸையும் எடுத்துக் கொண்டு எங்கள் வீட்டின் மொட்டை மாடியிற்கு கூட்டிச்சென்றேன்.
I took her to our terrace top with a match box and a convex lens.
அது மதிய நேரம். சூரியன் பயங்கரமாக சுட்டெரித்தது. ஓரளவிற்கு நிழலுள்ள இடத்தில் மாடியில் உட்கார்ந்தோம். பிறகு நான் என் லென்ஸை கொண்டு தரையில் கிடந்த ஒரு உலர்ந்த இலை மீது சூரியனின் கதிர்கள் குவிக்க ஆரம்பித்தேன்.
It was noon time with the sun scorching. We sat on the floor in the terrace in a partially shady place. And I started to focus the sun's rays on a dried leaf on the floor with my lens.
நான் என் மகளிடம் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் "இலையை பார்த்துக் கொண்டே இரு" என்று சொன்னேன். விரைவில் அது புகைய ஆரம்பித்தது. பின் ஒரு பகுதி கருக ஆரம்பித்தது.
I was repeatedly telling, "WATCH THE LEAF". Soon it started to smoke and partly got charred.
அடுத்து நான் ஒரு நெருப்புக் குச்சியை எடுத்துக் கொண்டேன். அதை தரையில் வைத்தேன். பிறகு லென்ஸை கொண்டு மருந்து இருக்கும் நுனியின் மீது சூரியனின் கதிர்கள் குவித்தேன்.
Next I took a match stick. Placed it on the floor. Then I started focussing the sun's rays with my lens on the coloured tip.
பிறகு நான் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் "தீக்குச்சியை பார்த்துக் கொண்டே இரு" என்று சொன்னேன். ஒரு சில நொடிகளில் அது தீப்பற்றி எரியப் போகிறது என்று எனக்கு நன்கு தெரியும்.
I was repeating, "WATCH THE STICK". I was sure it was going to ignite is a few seconds.
சிறிது நேரத்தில் அது "புஸ்" என்ற ஒலியுடன் எரிய ஆரம்பித்து. அதை கண்டு அவள் திடுக்கிட்டாள்.
And of course, it indeed ignited with an hissing sound. She was startled by it and jumped up.
நான் அவளுக்கு ஆறுதலளித்தேன். பிறகு அவளிடம் சொன்னேன், "நம் ஒவ்வொருவரிடமும் இது போல கற்பனை செய்ய முடியாத அளவு திறமை மறைந்து உள்ளது. நாம் ஒரு விஷயத்தில் (அல்லது புள்ளியில்) நீண்ட நேரம் கவனம் செலுத்தினால், நம் கற்பனையிற்கு எட்டாத அளவிற்கு அற்புதமான விளைவை பெறுவோம்.
I comforted her and told her, our mind also has unimaginable hidden potential. And if you focus it on one point long enough, you will get UNIMAGINABLE RESULT.
